About the project
The project aims to strengthen the operation of the Ecopalermo Foundation Recycling Center through its effective integration into the regional recycling value chain, promoting its operational, economic, and social sustainability. The initiative seeks to transform a community-based environmental effort into a functional organizational model capable of generating environmental impact, social inclusion, and long-term financial viability. All of this operates under formal standards, improving productivity and positioning the organization as a relevant actor within the local circular economy ecosystem.
The Challenge
The recycling center lacked a clear management model and a strategic roadmap to develop its business. This situation limited the center’s efficiency and hindered its economic sustainability.
The Solution
The support provided by FUNDES and Coremar focused on designing and implementing a comprehensive operational model based on administrative, productive, and commercial best practices. Diagnostics, records, and monitoring systems were developed to standardize operations and improve project traceability. At the same time, human capital development was promoted through leadership training, role definition, and ongoing productivity improvement programs, successfully consolidating a high-performance-oriented team. The process enabled the formalization of professional recyclers, expansion of the network of waste generators, improvement of commercialization prices, and the structuring of a replicable business model. These efforts resulted in substantial increases in operational efficiency, a doubling of revenues, and the sustainable expansion of collection routes.
